1 week results are in!
ok so its not been a full week yet as i got my BP on the 18th.. 1st day i had him i set up his cage and started getting the husbandry right. later that night he seemed like he was looking for food so we fed him, a small rat, 98 grams to be exact. now my initial plan was to feed him on a Wednesday just so come the weekend he would be able to be handled, plus during the week would give him a good chance to digest with minimal interruptions.. well every day i get in there and change his water, he comes out and investigates whats going on and for some reason i was getting the idea that he was still hungry. so today i went out and got him another small rat, 60 grams worth.. he jumped on that thing so quick it was unreal. devoured it... i feel i am back to my original plan of feeding on Wednesday, as i plan to go out next Wednesday and get him another. i also got my acurite in the mail today so that was set up before i fed. humidity is a little on the high side as it is at 73% but he is currently still going thru the final stages of his shed. when i got my BP he weighed in at 890 grams and today he was at 1004 grams.. so far knock on wood everything is going great! i plan to get him a bigger enclosure maybe this weekend, currently he is residing in a 20 long tank. plan to go with a 40 breeder although i did find a 30 breeder that could work as it has the same foot print as the 40 breeder.
Thoughts?
thanks
mike

Sounds like everything is going good!
For the tank height is really as important as floor space, my PVC cages range from 12-14 inches tall, so if the 30g has the same floor space as the 40g but not as tall I would go with the 30g.

I would suggest putting off any regular handling until your snake has eaten at least 4 times.

this is what i planned to do, i was actually going to do 5 feedings.. i really don't handle him now unless it is to take his weight or to adjust something in his bedding. its been so hard not to get him out to see what he does.

well excitement got the best of me, i went out and bought him the 40 breeder, new lights, new ceramic heating element, and a uth heater.. dont think i will need that just yet, as i still need to buy the thermostat first. i have it all set up and i am going to give it a few days to see where the heat and humidity goes, i might weight till his shed is complete also. thoughts on that???
