mildew in water dish?

that little spot of green in the creases of the water dish just doesn't want to go away, even when I scrub at it with dish soap. is it harmful to my bp when it drinks the water or is that small amount not that serious? if so, any tips for products that will remove it more effectively?

Wow! Honestly , I would just toss that dish and not even risk my animals getting sick. It probably is some kind of lime scale or mineral deposits that contaminated the dish.

I use a new soft toothbrush to clean my animals' cages and dishes. Can you scrape it off with a knife? If that doesn't work, you're probably better off to replace the dish.

Get a big pot, fill it with enough water to cover the water bowl, put the bowl into the pot along with some mild dish soap, and bring it to a boil. Keep an eye on it since soapy water boils over easily.

Once it has cooled off you should be able to remove the mold easily afterward, and even if you can't the heat will have killed it.

Exo terra dishes change colour after a while of having water in them. Are you sure that the bit you are talking about isn't just the colour change of the exo terra dish ?
There designed to not hold anything like mold so hard to believe it doesn't come off if it is mold or anything like that which makes me think it's just the bowl lol

Bleach seems to solve all mold problems. At least it works in my shower. LOL

I'd recommend a toothbrush, some food-safe scrubbing agent, something pointy to scrape, and boiling to finish it off. Would be one heck of a waste of money to throw that thing away without at least trying to clean it, seeing how those dishes are often 20€+ .... At least over here they are. If it doesn't come off, ya can still buy a new one ; )

Bleach in cold water, then rinse well with hot water. If you have hard water scale, un-diluted white vinegar.

The naturalistic bowls like that look cool, but I prefer ceramic with smooth interior for ease of cleaning.
