How long does it take for a bp to digest a meal?

My girl finally ate a large mouse Sunday night and I was wondering how long it will take for her to digest it. Also, do I have to wait for several consecutive meals to be eaten before I can start handling her?

Also, does this apply to boa constrictors? I just got a baby boa constrictor this weekend and he ate on Sunday with no problems where as my girl bp was very shy about her eating.

I give a full 48 before handling and when they're new I start every other day 5-8 minute handling sessions and gradually increase.

Re: How long does it take for a bp to digest a meal?

I handled my first bp quite often for 2 weeks until I joined this forum and realized I screwed up. This was in January and on April 8th he started eating and now has ate 13 consecutive meals and is now excited for food. He did eat a few times between January and April but only every 2-3 weeks, now he is ready every 5 days so I feed him then to make up for lost time lol. My killer bee I did not handle until I got 5 consecutive meals out of her but she ate the day after I brought her home. The Ivory I bought a couple weeks ago has ate 3 meals for me including one the day after I brought him home but doesn't use his hot hide so I take him out long enough to put him in hot hide but that's for his own good. The rule I'm going to have for myself is 5 consecutive feedings then handle unless there is a reason I have to. I think it is a good rule to go by, at least for me.

I've used 24 hours with both of my balls. Haven't had a regurg ever. Up until this thread I could have sworn all the recommendations I'd read were for 24 hrs post feeding before handling.

After the post-feed wait, I've handled anywhere from daily to weekly and in between..
    0.1 Wifey
    0.1 Brindle Boxers (Harley-RIP , Bella)
0.2 Rott mix (Kali, the Goddess of Destruction.. aptly named, and our newest addition Xena)
    1.0 Normal BP (Beetlejuice)
    0.1 Super Pastel BP (Lydia)

If you are gonna be stupid, you darn well better be tough.
