What the heck. Bee pollen. Spirulina. B complex. Calci-Blast. Will my snake die.

A friend of mine with quite a few snakes directed me to a website that sells, for reptiles, among other things (per descriptions):

Bee pollen: "is one of natures most complete protein rich foods that is high in vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. It helps to enhance immune system functions as well as overall health maintenance."

Spirulina: "It is a great source of protein and is rich in B vitamins and Beta Carotene."

NutriBAC: "A probiotic formulated specifically for reptiles. Stimulates appetite by replenishing beneficial intestinal microflora after relocation stress, poor diet, or antibiotic treatment."

On and on and on. I know there are mainstream vitamin supplements out there that everyone says are unnecessary for snakes but not harmful (unless they are - are they?!) but this stuff seems awfully... specific. I mean, what would even happen if you gave a snake bee pollen? Should I worry about her snakes? Should I be pollinating my snake?!

I have a little takeout container of mice in the freezer. They do not stimulate appetite with microflora but my snake doesn't seem to know that. Am I a bad snake mom? Is she a bad snake mom? Does it even make a difference?

Not sure if its harmful, but its definitely not necessary. Just stick to the basics.

    Just had to say it....

I think most snakes are perfectly good at pollinating each other.

I sprinkle bee pollen on my beardie and Uromastyx's salads, but snakes get all they need with rodents.

    I, for one, am intrigued.

If I were to Google "snake sausages" will I need eye ball bleach or one of those giant foam fingers to protect against face palming?

I actually feed the rabbit ReptiLinks to a young BCI I got as a Christmas gift - she is too small even now to take a rabbit pinkie. Her rear end needed a "WIDE LOAD" banner due to overfeeding by her prior owner; the front end was BCI shape, the back end was more like a ball or blood python. The rabbit links are high protein, 10% fat so the fat grams have been slowly melting off of this lady's butt without having to stint her feedings.

The probiotic NutriBAC also does work to help re-establish the gut flora in a debilitated animal after a regurge or a course of antibiotics.

I think most supplements are for herbivores. Whole prey usually has whatever a carnivore needs.

I think the snake sausages would be useful if you had to force-feed a snake. Probably easier than trying to get a floppy dead mouse down 'em!
