Please Help! My ZooMed Terrarium is too cold:(

All thermostats use a probe, you put the probe between the heating pad and the glass. If you have one of the tack on zoomed pads, if you try to take it off now, you'll probably have to just throw it away. Also, your substrate on the hot end is far too thick, I find that having a very slight layer (half inch thick tops) of substrate works because you dont have to worry about a major difference between the temp of the glass and the temp of the top of the substrate.

Can I use a heat resistant tape and tape the prob on the glass where the heat pad is? Or do I really need to buy a new heat pad and stick the prob in the middle?

You cant put tape inside of the tank, snakes are derpy and they get stuck to it, and it pulls their scales off after the wrestle themselves off of it. You may be able to gently unstick the pad without breaking the element inside.. but you wont know if it broke and you wont know if its become a fire hazard.

What I did to hold down my thermometer probe, I used hot glue to hold the cable down, making sure the probe didnt get moved. The problem with this is that I only glued down the wire, not the probe itself (didnt want to risk damaging it), which means that on a thermostat, if the snake accidentally lifts up the probe (or gets substrate underneath it), the probe will no longer be reading the correct temp, and the pad will heat up until the probe gets back to your desired temp. Depending on how far off of the spot it is, it could make the glass very hot again.

Rather than risk damaging your heat pad, you can use heat resistant tape and tape the probe to the bottom of the pad itself on the outside (making sure the head is in contact with the pad). It will still be able to sense the temperature there without being interfered with. You just adjust the temperature up or down according to your infrared thermometer readings on the glass until you have it dialed in.

As a heads up, the probe head for the Jump Start is pretty thick. You may need to shim the aquarium up a bit (with rubber feet most commomly) once it's in place to keep it from getting squished and keep your aquarium flush with the surface it's sitting on.

What is key here is 1) NO tape inside ever, and 2) The thermometer (not thermostat) probe is what may be hot glued inside.

Just came back from the vet. The snake turns out to be a male lol. No sign of RI or external parasites. He gave me a tube to collect feces samples to test for internal parasites. He also said the snake is getting ready to shred probably next week
