    It does matter actually. You still have to be considerate of the other people you rent with, just because you pay a share doesn't mean you can just do whatever you want. Unless you own the place and you rent it to the other tenants. I didnt say she was a jerk for adopting a snake in need, i simply said that those saying that she should go back in the agreement of one snake and just do whatever she wants because she pays bills would be a jerk thing to do. Its just asking for roommate issues, and no one wants there to be issues at home, why create them?
