^Pretty much what I'd say. Just email the guy with the carpet python and say that you settled it out with your roommates or somethin like that?

Re: Unexpected development. New ball Python.

I had to temporarily house a snake in a tub for medical reasons and the ambient was low for him too. I used a CHE on a stand to raise it. Worked really well.

Set another tub up, get the Carpet and rehome the BP when you can. Tell the roomies it's just temporary, a few years or so Quick fast send an email to the Carpet guy and tell him you still want it, sorry for any confusion, send it along as planned. Tell the roomies that you will not be keeping the BP but it has to stay until it's healthy enough to go somewhere else and you are looking for a home for it.

You're not going to be happy with the BP as your only snake when you have your heart set on the Carpet that you've already picked out and are so excited to get.

Or you could pay for the carpet and maybe send him an extra 50 for the food and inconvenience or whatever he would feed her over the course of a month maybe. That should satisfy him.

Thanks for doing that and sorry for that happening. I suggest raising that BP back to health then finding a good home for him/her . At least It's in good hands for now.

Re: Unexpected development. New ball Python.

You pay bills right? I see it this way if they are in your room then there shouldn't be a problem. Also say you will pay a little extra for electric bc of heat devices.

As for your ambients as mentioned before just have a uth on each side. I have to do this with one of my PVC cages bc there is nowhere to mount a rhp. I have one that covers a 1/3 of cage set to 94 under substrate giving top of substrate 90 and then I have another larger heat mat that covers the remaining 2/3 set to 83 under substrate and reads 81 on top. My cool side would not be even close to the correct temp without doing this and it works very well. You could buy dimmers for the cool side mat if you can't get 4 thermostat for both hot and cool sides of both snakes. That way if the room temp changes the cool temp won't fluctuate out of a safe temp range unless the room temp drastically changed. Of course something like a Herpstat 4 would be best so you can control all with thermostats but the dimmer would work but I would use thermostats with hot sides no matter what.

It would be just inconsiderate to bring in animals without everyone being in agreement, just because "I pay bills too". Its just asking for major issues with roommates and those issues never end well. I dont know what kind of living situation the OP is in, but it isnt worth her being out of a place to live, especially when they were already willing to compromise. If she is living with several girls, they probably are already not too excited about having rats in the freezer

Also, I can also see where the roomies are coming from, having a girlfriend who works at a pet store who wants to save every single cat, dog, small animal, reptile and fish that comes into the door. You have to set a limit or you'll run the risk of being neck deep in pets, all of the tables having some sort of tank (and smelling like a zoo).

When I was single, I had 1 cat, now I have 4 cats, 2 tarantulas, 2 BP (one mine) and 4 fish in 2 different tanks. At some point (when she asked me if she can have a bearded dragon) I had to tell her not to bring one more GD thing into this house or she, her cats and spiders, fish and snake would have to pack their bags.

"Whats one more pet" is a snowball rolling down a hill.

Why don't you take the BP back to the pet store? Just a thought.

This is true for free roaming pets and pets that spray like cats but with caged animals that defecated sparsely is a different story. It also sounded to me like her roommates wouldn't compromise, with compromise being promising to get rid of it when healthy. My general thoughts are if the animal can be happy, if you have space for it, and if you afford it you should be able to keep it. It sounded like the pet store gave her the snake for free or super cheap because they couldn't house it and its not like bp would take up that much space anyway. Two snakes is also not a plethora of animals

This is just an assumption, but Im pretty sure she talked them from "no snakes" to "one snake". thats a compromise for a group of girls who are afraid of or just dont like snakes. And it seems like OP accepted that compromise, but now this unplanned situation has come up. The roommates probably think this is just a plan to bring more animals home than agreed to. Thats how people who live with others who rescue animals have to think.

Again, not saying this is the case, or that the OP is a hoarder or anything, its just me trying to see the situation from both ends. If these were the terms everyone agreed to, it would be wrong to just say screw it, i'll do what i want.
