    Re: Moving

I just did this last summer when I moved from Northern, PA to Houston Tx. It was a 25 hour drive and we stopped for two nights. I took my adult male ball python with me in his 29 gallon tank which I put in the back seat of my car. Since you're moving during the summer, just don't blast the air or the music in the car and they should be fine. Since I was driving through the south in July and the night time temps didn't get below 75, I just left him in the tank in the car overnight with the windows cracked. This worked really well as he wasn't disturbed and was still in his familiar tank. Nights might be cooler where you are, so if you stop for the night I'd recommend finding a motel with rooms that open out into the parking lot, rather than having to carry snakes through a hotel lobby. Depending on their size it might be easiest to transport them in a sterilite tub that is set up like a tank (complete with hides, water bowl, substrate) and a wire top (which you can make yourself. Then if it's cool at night you can just put an infrared heat lamp on the wire. If you aren't stopping at all, maybe use the sterilite bin lid with holes drilled into it for some air. Using a tub will be so much more portable than a glass tank, and once you are all settled in your new place, then you can look for a more permanent setup
18 hours isn't that long of a time, so if their temps aren't exactly what they're used to, it should still be ok (within reason)
