    Sometimes a juvenile or a young snake you're trying to switch off of live will take longer to get with the program. I've had young ones who took up to 8 hours before they decided to hit the prey.

    With older established snakes, they're either gonna' eat pretty quick, or they just aren't in the mood. Leaving the prey item in there, with the associated smell, probably causes more stress than necessary.
