Hi guys I have a question about the bedding am using Aspen but I don't really like how it looks am looking for something safe first and more natural looking second. What do you guys think about (Exo Terra Coco Husk) it looks nice and natural but I don't know if I can use it with my ball python. Any ideas?

I believe you can... I won't sware to this. I have used cypress mulch and it holds humidity nicely. DO NOT USE pine ceader or sand

I'm using aspen too in my ARS rack and I really don't like it much either. Most of my snakes burrow down into it or push it to the center as they move around the tub. Looking for something better. I can get kiln dried aspen pretty cheap at Petco, it's $12 for eight cubic feet. It's compressed really tight and really expands well. Need something economical because I have 20 tubs to fill every month.

I've been reading about it the different types of substrates and people have different views on it so am still confused. Also how often do you guys do you do a fully clean up? and what's the best way to disinfect the enclosure

Substrate is more a form follows function if you will. Like I have a very naturally humid area where the rack is so with an empty tub I have 60% humidity. I use some dry paper towels and I poked a lot of holes.
Now if you have an area where you have like 5 / 10 % humidity you have a ways to go. This is where the cypress mulch, or the Coco fibers and the repti bark come in because they are ground from trees. You can get them wet and they hold the moisture (without molding like paper would) and the moisture release create your humidity to get your to your 60/70%.

My humidity now with Aspen is really good 65 to 70 and goes over if I mist. I just don't like how it looks and am looking for something that is more natural looking

I use care fresh bedding, never had a mold instance once. It doesn't look natural really but I bought brown to make it loom a little better. Plus for a 60L $20 bag it only takes a quarter bag to fill a 48x24 cage.

As far as cleaning I just picked up some F10SC and F10SCXD from reptile basics. Really easy to use, just spray on and wipe off except for the F10SCXD you should rinse that. Use the F10SCXD and then F10SC last. I guess the F10SCXD is for like visible messes and F10SC is like Lysol for reptiles. I would use both anytime you do a complete tear down. But you can use F10SC regularly to disinfect hides and such. Plus 100ml makes quite a few 1 liter bottles bc you mix it to water. There $16 each for 100ml from reptile basics.

Personally, I was recommended Sphagnum based substrate and so far I like it a lot. It has more of a dirt-like texture as opposed to a wood chip texture like some have. It also looks pretty natural. It's also helping me keep the humidity high enough because I live in a dry area.
