Usually at a feed store and yes with water.

You can pick it up at your local cvs as well. I would avoid peroxide, however. A doctor recently informed me that peroxide does disinfect, but also causes cellular damage which slows healing. I would assume it's the same principal with humans and snakes.

Wishing you the best of luck, and a speedy recovery for your new darling. I haven't had to work with burns yet *knock on wood*, just lacerations and scale rot so far. Please keep us posted!

I found a gallon jug of chlorhexidine on ebay for only $11, and it was here in a day. I decided to go that route. They didn't have exactly what I needed here in town. I found a small bottle at CVS, but it was about $18 if I remember correctly.

He finished shedding the other day and the burn looks tremendously better. It is encouraging to see the treatment is working. I've continued to treat him the same minus the peroxide. It isn't oozing or smelling badly, so I don't believe it is infected. Let me know what you think of the photos. Also, now that he has shed, do you think he is a pastel?

I trusted him because he took the time to talk to me, and made comments about things such as the importance of reputation in the hobby.

He and his girlfriend both read my messages regarding the condition of the animal the following day. Neither has responded in the last three days. They should never own animals, you are correct. Which is why I did not press them to return the snake after my first message. At least the little guy has a chance with me.

If you need a good source for finding out who is or isn't reputable, the best place is the BOI. Here is a link: http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/foru...splay.php?f=13 Sometimes people trash other people to try to make themselves look knowledgeable or out of jealousy, and I always take one person's opinion with a grain of salt until I can get a chance to look them up on the BOI. I never buy from anyone without checking them out there first.

Wow! Sorry you had to experience the worse in ball python transactions. To me the wounds look pretty irritated and seem to have a full thermal depth to them in a couple of areas. My first recommendation is a exotic vet so at least a professional evaluation of the extent of the burns can take place and the determination if he needs antibiotic therapy. Also, i would stop using peroxide to flush the wounds and switch to betadine and water in a tub and a tea colored concentration. The amount of water should be just enough to cover his ventral scales, that's it. Good luck.

    suggestion

Maybe contact the ASPCA? Humane Society?

You should also contact any rescue and shelter groups in your area - pass this info on to them so they keep his and her contact information on file to prevent them from adopting anything.

You could also contact the zoo with this information. If he is getting a kick back from having his Burmese on display, this might put a dent in his income. I would talk to the zoo manager in charge of the herps. Make an appointment to go in and talk. Have all of your information printed out to give to that person.

He's a beauty, and lucky you got him out of that situation.
