Can Red Tail Boas See Night Red Heat Incandescent Bulbs?

Yes, they can.

I've never used red lights with my boa, when I first started out I used white heat bulbs. When I switched him to his 6' enclosure, where no lights were provided (mostly because I can't plug the darn things in without it tripping the breaker), I had an IR bulb set up next to his cage. He spent 5 days straight in his water dish without ever leaving it beyond me taking him out once a day and drying him off. I would see his tracks in the bedding if he had as I kept it moist and fluffed up to monitor him.

The very first night I had the light shut off, he left his dish and never went back.

My ball python has never reacted like this, but he can see it. I've seen him flinch from the light when I turned it on, but it has never impacted his behavior.
