Low quality is based on what?
For somebody like myself, I prefer snakes that exhibit the traits of the locality they come from. While the high yellows and fancy neon colors may turn heads, there is certainly nothing wrong with ANY carpet python that looks more like a wild specimen and if the O/P didn't pay big money for some special morph, there is nothing low quality about it.
Dennis M is spot on in saying the true coloring isn't likely seen here as the snake is quite juvenile.
I know that there are some PURE locality jungle carpet pythons that look nothing like what most folks consider "high quality".
Many of the carpets here in the US are most certainly a mixed bag of tricks, but that's OK. I have a mutt myself and couldn't be happier.
I'm not sure "low quality" is the correct term here.
The picture was taken in less than ideal lighting conditions. I see some nice striping on the sides and the potential for some high contrast when it matures.

Also, low yellow does not equal low quality. Some of my favorite jungles are low yellow with lots of black tipping.

Quality means different things to different people which is precisely why I clarified my statement. I prefer high yellow jungle carpets. In my experience the carpets that I have seen to be high yellow as adults, displayed at least some yellow as little ones.
I was not insulting and if it was taken that way I apologize. I have been told some of my animals are "low quality" or "pet quality" by some and others have told me they were gorgeous. I happen to agree with the latter.
You asked for opinions and you got mine, don't have to like it.

so there it is kspeck420.
A) no one knows what type of carpet python you have, probably too soon to to tell, maybe you'll never know.
B) those of us who keep carpets see nothing "low quality" about it.

That's good, and thanks for clarifying.
I would consider a "high quality" animal one that represents traits of the locality it is from.
For instance, Nick Mutton's Brisbane, locality coastal carpets.
On the other side of that coin, I'd also consider very selectively bred morphs high quality, if the breeder had been working years for certain traits.
In this case I believe the O/P was looking for ideas as to what species the snake was. Coastal, coastal/jungle mix, IJ, or Darwin or diamond.
Whether or not the quality of the snake was in question is something I don't believe the O/P was asking about.
But I understand your point in trying to describe the animal, I misunderstood your post.

You hit the nail on the head just curious about what others thought the species was

fair enough, these things happen on the internet sometime. no facial expressions, no body language, no tone of voice. things can be misinterpreted.

which is exactly where the bright yellows on jungles so many of us love come from. selective breeding several decades ago. yes, there are some bright yellows in the wilds of Australia, but they are in the minority
