    Desert gene??

I'm on a Facebook auction for a female desert. The auctioneer says "breeders, please do some research about this gene before breeding" what does he mean by that? Are there deadly desert combos out there?

Long story short, Desert females don't produce.

    Re: Desert gene??

There are several combos but we're produced by males, females are unable to produce viable clutches. So if you want to work with desert you will have to buy a male. This means you will likely stay stuck with all the females and likely with the males as well since everyone has gave up on that project.

    Re: Desert gene??

You can get into Desert Ghost (DG), which is a recessive morph that's really hot right now (check out butter enchi DG or pastel orange ghost DG). Fyi, DG and Desert are different morphs. You can snag a DG male for around $350-400 low end price. Best of luck!

Seems like somebody who has been on this forum since 2010 would have already learned about the issues with the Desert gene?
