They always have fancy morphs at the Petco and Petsmart here. Petsmart usually has pieds, but will order others in if you ask, and sometimes randomly order some other morph. Petco seems to have a more steady supply---they always have spiders, butters, albinos, etc. Once they had a lemon blast. I don't see anything different about them having a banana. I think they'd charge more here, though---the albinos are $250! And usually the spiders, etc. are $399.

It may be because of the recent change in supplier. A petsmart employee that is also my friend said after those videos went up of there supplier neglecting animals that Petsmart and Petco stopped dealing with them and that they had a new supplier and are going to be getting bananas soon. I wonder if my local one has got them in yet. But the stores Ive been to only ever had normals or normals with "unique pattern" that they called fancy and charged more. He told me they weren't expecting bananas or any other animals for 3-6 months. The cages at 5 different petsmarts/petcos have been empty for a few months. Idk if every store in the country dealt with the same supplier. Has anyone else experienced empty cages in there local stores?

The big box stores in Gainesville get their BPs from a very well known breeder in town. Their cages are rarely empty.

I can remember when the Banana project was close hold, and only a few people had ever seen one in person. Times have changed.

Hmm must be different parts of the country go through different breeders. I wasn't just talking about bp., birds, beardies, Leos, hamsters, rats, everything is empty.

No it's not quite the contrary if it was not for pet shop reptiles would not have the exposure they have, people would not start researching them and would not take the next step and see what else might be available out there, things you will not find in a pet store.

Exposure = increase in interest = increase in sales

If there was a study I am pretty sure that the majority of BP owner were first exposed to them in a pet store.

    had different categories here....

normal, fancy, fancy special, fancy premium,
    they just started doing this..

so they had in that order: normal, lesser, lemon blast and piebald, sugar pastel and below it same label banana.
    59, 119,345, 300,450, 450,375

my first thought...cheaper and more reliable to buy from a breeder
