i am having such a bad day. i got up early to go with my dad to get rex a new tank. petsmart didnt have my tank. if anyone knows a website i can find breeder tanks it would help. i go to petco and thers a dead BP in the tank and the temps r 70 for the BPs and 60 for the boas, so i stormed out nocking stuff over. then i had no idea this was happening. i came home and my dog cant even walk. ive had him ever since i can remembr and hes old. hes such a sweet dog. im waiting for my mom to get home. i really dont think hes gonna make it. im gonna miss him so much. he has arthritis in his back legs. when he finally did get up, he went to lay back down and he was crying. i cant stand to see him in this much pain.

I'm sorry, Jason. That's really rough. My ex-roommate's dog is old and has bad bouts of arthritis and has had a couple of times he couldn't walk, but usually the vet gave him a shot of cortisone or something and he felt much better. There's still hope for him yet. Good luck.

sorry about your bad day jason. when i was growing up we had a dog that had some arthritis, and my mom gave her cod liver oil capsule supplements--the kind that you can just get at walmart in the pharmacy section. that really helped her tremendously--got rid of her limp and everything. the oils in it help to lubricate the joints, which alleviates their pain. perhaps that could be of help to rocky too.

You might want to look into supplementing his diet with glucosamine (now in some Purina One foods) as it's very good for joint health. The vet may also be able to help. Sorry about your bad day, but I'm glad your dog is feeling a bit better.

As well as glucosamine, a human heating pad set on low and padded by some blankies can be a big help. The warmth helps encourage more lubrication production and can help loosen up the muscles.

My 2 year old Cattle Dog/Pointer mix has mild hip displaysia which will likely develop into arthritis when she gets older. I supplement her diet (which is home cooked) with The Missing Link with Glucosamine and she also gets Glycoflex supplements daily. In addition there are a number of treats available with glucosamine added to it. Also making sure they don't lay on hard floors, but rather have nice padding are of help. They make a number of orthopedic dog beds as well.

Best to your pooch! I know how much they come to mean to us.

vet gave us some medicationa while ago. i dont know what it is though. hes doing better, but it just broke my heart to see him like that. i dont cry often, but i just broke out. the first thing in my life i can remember is going to get him. my dad took me and i had no idea we were getting one. when i seen him he was in the corner of his cage. i walked up to it and stuck my hand in and he licked it and shook my hand so to speak. my dad was behind me so when he cme in i told him i wanted that one. took me under 5minutes to pick him out. he didnt bark or anything, while all other dogs were goin nuts. when we ot into the truck to go home, he layed his head in my lap the hole way home. hes the first dog i ever had, and no other dog could ever even come close to replace him. he probly wont make it to christmas. thanks for the kind words guys.

I'm sorry you had such a bad day, Jason. I'm glad your buddy is doing better though. Try the Glucosamine supplement as I'm sure it will help. Thankfully none of my dogs have issues there, but having a giant breed I know that as he ages he may develop problems w/his joints so I feed Nutro Natural Choice Lamb and Rice which has Glucosamine for joint health. I also supplement that w/treats that include it. Don't lose hope! Good luck w/him!
