Yes, I'm still riding. I commute to work pretty much every day that I can on my little Ninja 250. It gets almost as good gas mileage as the Suzuki GS250 but it's a lot faster and quicker handling in traffic. And yes, I'm still saving up my pennies nickles and dimes for a big boy bike, though the ninja is as good of a commuter as I could want it's not so great for long trips.

Those little 250's are great for commuting around town. I ride almost every day but I have to do highway and people around here drive fast so a 250 is out for me.

That's great!!!
I commute on my bike as well. I bet you have a far easier time splitting lanes on that 250 that I do on my 1000lb warship, but I can get it done.

All,
Please be alert. Something can happen to anyone at any time no matter how good you think you are. When I was going home the other day a a ladder flew out of a truck on the highway. Cars scattered and I had nowhere to go but over the ladder. I ended up airborne at 80. If I had been on my crotch rocket instead of my "adventure bike" with long travel forks I would have been a red streak. I have a lot of time in the saddle. I stopped counting around 500,000 miles. None of my experience would have prevented what happened. Had to check the underwear when I got home.

I had a similar thing happen a few months back. I was just entering a freeway from a loop on ramp. As we got to the main lanes the no cars were moving to let me know there was a obstacle in the roadway. Suddenly from under the car in front of me was a landscape timer that was almost four feet long. It was laying in a way that allowed the cars to go right over it so I had no clue it was coming.
I did as I was taught in the police motor course and hit it straight on. I got a lil air but road out fine. Got to work and check the bike and all was well. For sure a pucker moment.
Im glad it worked out for you too. Ive always had cruisers and now have the Tour. A sport bike has never appealed to me but I think I could have a ton of fun on a adventure bike.

Re: Motorcycles......Who got on!?!
I'm 16 and am getting my Class M license this summer. Just started riding my KLX250SF supermoto. There is no better feeling then riding a motorcycle early in the morning, other than my bp finally eating after a couple months...

That's great!
No matter your background in bikes I would suggest taking a riding course. The open road is a dangerous place for a bike. If you grew up riding off road or even a bit on road a riding course will still help you and teach you things that will save your life. A lot of guys really like the classes these guys put on. They have different levels of classes as well. So as you get more saddle time and want harder challenges they will have it for you.

Yup. Very helpful. Best thing I learned there was pretend you are invisible.
