This guy has come a long way in the 3 years he arrived at my door step. April 23, 2013 around 10AM the FedX guy came with the package.
Sniper is over 6 feet long now, lean and muscular. He enjoyed lower temps and no food over the winter. Guess what? He grew!
It was finally warm enough for some I-Phone pictures yesterday.
Barranquilla, Colombian BCI. Produced by Gus Rentfro and sold to me by LEGACY REPTILES.
The boas from this local are said to be what a natural cross between BCC and BCI would look like. Scale counts and other characteristics differ from the "common BCI". Instead they seem to have both BCC and BCI traits.
That said, the tail is not BCC, however it looks nice in the sun and note the lateral compression (flat sides/tall body) he has going on.
Some folks don't believe boa constrictors are all that active compared to other snakes. That can be true, but I feel that is due in part to over feeding. A properly fed BC will become active and when they are setup in caging with options, you can see several natural behaviors.
If you can't set them up with good sized caging, get them out for exercise, both you and the snake will benefit.
He looks bigger in person all stretched out. He will be 4 years old the end of June.
I'll use a real camera and get some better pics at that time.
Until then, enjoy these.
