    Got Bit!

Sorry to hear about your initiation!

I reckon I shouldn't be so lax with my Snakes. I just reach in and spot clean, change water and such without hesitation.

My main problem is with the Carpets. I have to fight them off from trying to escape when I open up their cages. When a Carpet wants out they never stop trying, and will sometimes wear me down and I just go ahead and let them out.
But then getting them back in is much harder than the Boas or Ball.

Boas are definitely more laid back!

The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

    Re: Got Bit!

I'm too concerned about being tagged to just shove my hand in and do stuff, lol. I even avoid wimpy corn snake bites at all costs. 😝 I'm a great example of being a wuss but loving the hobby.

I can't deny that boas are more laid back! 😁 Almost makes it an even more shocking experience when they suddenly get you... These aren't my snakes, though, they only get messed around with for cleaning and feeding, so warm flesh coming into the enclosure must be food! Plus they're a little cage aggressive it seems, though I would be too if I was just chillin' and this thing just came at my face. Haha

I've never tangled with anything like a Carpet, sounds like the kind of snake that would keep me on guard.Sounds like tons of fun when you realize they aren't out to get you though!

Punch is a cutie, I love boas, I would really like to dabble in bloods someday though. Get a hatchling so I can handle the heck out of it before it's big.. they have such cute but intimidating faces. 😃

I'm still waiting for my boa to bite me. He's still young so he has lots of time to make up for it

Lizard bites are awful though, I'd take a bite from any of my snakes before my BTS. Bit me once when he was little.... so much for hand feeding lol

Lol, I'm also waiting for my *own* boa to bite me as well. She's 3 and a halfish right now, growing slowly.

Eek, I can't imagine an adult taking a chunk!

Lol I also just shove my hands in my girls' cages and do stuff. Lol sometimes I stick my face up to the doors to take a sniff for a poopie. One day I will probably get bit but its only happened once so far with these girls and its cause Rosey was a baby and new and I reached in over top of her head and she hit my arm. Most of the time they don't care what I do. And you must have "quitter" boas there Reinz lol. Rosey and Vicky play hell to try and get back in their cages when they don't want in. They grab the drop down door with their tail or double back out and grab the top of the cage or the side of the cage. Or Rosey being big will clamp onto my hand or arm and its game over, I cant get her off to save my life lol. Vicky isn't as big so she cant really use the clamp method so she uses her sneakiness and will double back on my arm and crawl up to my shoulder. Dottie is the only one who actually more or less likes going into her cage and hides lol.
