    cool side temp

On the cool side outside the hide I'm getting an air temp of 83 and ground temp of 79 and inside cool hide an air temp of 80 and ground temp of 75. Does my ground temp need to be raised to 80? Or does it not matter as long as the air temp is in check?

75 is a bit low but as long as the snake has a warm side he can go to, he should be fine. Same goes for a hot side, if they don't have somewhere to escape that heat, problems will arise. Its the reason snakes thermo regulate. Honestly, I don't get that technical into it. I give all my gals a warm side of 86-88F and a cool side of 78-80F and they do the rest as needed

So I want ground temp then not air for the cool side? So I should raise my temps 3 degrees and it should give me outside hide an air temp of 86 and ground 81 and inside hide air 83 and ground 78 approximately. So ground temp is what I'm shooting for correct?

I do ambient temp which means air temp. If you want to bump the ground temp up a few degrees then put the cage on a sheet of hard foam insulation. The stuff you can get from Home Depot or any hardware store. Its the stuff you use to sheet insulation walls and attics. It has a silver side and a paper side. Put the silver side facing the bottom of the cage. I would say something 1/2" to 3/4" should be plenty.

Your air temps(ambient to me) is fine at 86F warm side and 78F cool side. Only time I ever take ground temp reading is when I use heat tape and I need to find the hottest spot directly on the glass above the heat tape. Otherwise I just go with air temps.

Ok good. My temps are good then. The 75 was the ground temp inside hide and the ambient inside hide was 80. I was just worried bc my ground temp was lower then 80 but as long as I'm good with ambient temp only then the 75 ground doesn't matter.

Yeah 75F ground is fine and 80 ambient inside the cool hide. If he gets cold, he will slither over to the warm side hide and hang out there until he gets too hot, then he will go back to the cool side.
