To my understanding, soaking in a bath can strip the oils from the skin, creating a long-term problem. When one of mine was having trouble, shortly after I got her, I soaked a pillow case, squeezed out most of the water, put her inside and set it about mid-way in her tub so she could warm up or cool down as desired. Damp, but not a soak. After a while in there, slithering around against the fabric, the stuck shed came right off. Cleaning the pieces of shed skin out of the inside of the pillow case, however, took longer.
Soaking in a bath can strip the oils but if the shed is stuck, the snake still has time to produce any lost oils by the next shed. As long as the soak is done right after the shed is stuck you should be ok... But I like your technique better anyway
