Looking to Purchase a Ball Python !!
Hello! I'm terribly sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this in, but I'm looking for advice on ball python husbandry !!
I think I owe an explanation of why I want a snake, and how I intend to pay for it. Feel free to skip through; it's not overly important !!
I am a digital artist, and a minor, to young to have a job, as art is my only way of income, which isn't a complaint. I recently went to a pet store and held a snake, for the first time and I have absolutely fallen in love with ball pythons !! I'm hoping to purchase a normal ball python, or a pied ball python, if possible, at an Idaho/Utah reptile expo!
But I am not going to be purchasing any snake until I have a proper setup, and have done enough research, as I do not want to inadvertently mistreat a reptile.
Here's the things I need advice for;
Tank sizes for a baby ball python; and how large they need to be in order to get them a larger terrarium.
I would also like to know how to use heat tape/heat cables/undertank heaters and how to keep my snake from overheating.
I would also like to know how to create a feeding schedule, and what not to do!
thank you all very much for your help, and again I apologize if this is the wrong form !!

Few, if any, businesses will deal with you. They will sell to a parent but not to a minor. It's a business law thing; minors typically can't be held to contracts.

None, get a tub. It's cheaper, easier to maintain, and there is less likelihood of an escape if you get the style with a latching lid.

Put a thermostat probe between the heat pad/heat tape and set it to 90*F. Plug the thermostat into the wall and the heat source into the thermostat. Use an IR thermometer to monitor the temperature on the bottom of the tub. Adjust thermostat up or down as needed to get a hot spot of 90*F.

It's a grand Idea to have your parents involved how Fun for you and them, I like the Ziplock Brand Tubs, they have a seal and latches they work much better than a Glass tank you can get a deal at Amazon.com. Another Reptile site is Reptilebasics.com
