I wouldn't but crypto isn't really something you need to worry about unless you are getting a used cage or a new animal that needs to be quarantined. Then just watch for really smelly runny poop in a quarantined animal. In the case of a used cage that you have no idea about the previous occupant, then I would strip the cage down if it can be done and take it outside and clean it thoroughly with ammonia and water, rinse it very well and them let it air dry for a few days.

    Re: Chlorhexadine gluconate vs novalsan?

I have 1 more question. I read that diluted chlorhexadine does not last very long and becomes ineffective when its diluted for awhile. Is this the same case for f10sc or will this stay effective when diluted and not used for awhile?

Chlorhex is great because of its residual effect (aka it persists on surfaces and has longer-term antibacterial action). Personally tho, I tend to associate Chlorhex more with use in a concentrated form as a topical antibacterial or a surgical sterilizing agent (Veterinary Clinic Uses). We didn't generally use Chlorhex to clean surfaces like exam tables and Kennels.

I'd go for the F10 or a Quaternary Ammonium Compound (Quats). They're more geared towards cleaning surfaces

I too have heard the same about Chlorhexadine. I used to just mix enough in a spray bottle which lasted me about a week. As for F10SC, I haven't heard anything of it breaking down once mixed but unless you are using distilled water, I would probably just do what I do and mix a single spray bottle worth per week. I just buy the smallest bottle(3.4oz) and it lasts me like 6 months.
