help with substrate for humidity in glass tank.

I currently have a 10 gal for my soon to get ball python and i eventuall need to get a larger tank. What is the best substrate for holding in moisture for glass aquariums/tanks. Ive heard alpt of people recommend aspen, cypress, repti-bark and eco-earth but i heard eco-earth can get in the snakes mouth and choke him. Is this true? Any help is appreciated thanks.

All of those are fine in my opinion. I personally have been using eco earth for both my cornsnake (10 years) and my normal ball python (3 years). I have never had a problem with it and I find it is economical and holds moisture very well. I have seen my cornsnake with a mouth full of it before and he has not had a problem. Some people when feeding add newspaper for them to eat on during feeding to prevent this but I have never had an issue and my animals are thriving wonderfully. I highly recommend eco earth but that is just me. Since this is a glass tank i am assuming you will have a screen lid. Block most of the lid off with plastic wrap or a piece of plexi to help hold moisture in.

All my other snakes are in a rack system on kraft paper which i also recommend for its price and durability. The only issue is its paper and it doesn't hold moisture very well.( I guess that is why there is moss lol)

Consider purchasing a "versa top" for a 10 gallon tank. They are sold at Petland, Petco, and Petsmart. Humidity issues solved.

What he said. When I used tanks I would go to the local plastic suppliers and get scraps. A scrap piece of plexiglass big enough to cover a ten gallon tank is free or next to it.
