I think smell and temperature are more important.

You said 6 were offered and 4 refused from the 2 you thawed. So you don't typically leave the rat in the enclosure for a bit? Many of mine will refuse to strike from tongs but will happily eat it if I just set near the entrance of a hide (not right in their face) and leave them alone with it in the dark overnight.

I was just thinking the same thing!

When in doubt, just leave it in there overnight. Worst that happens is you have to clean up in the morning.

I also feed my good eaters last and use them more as a clean up. So say I offer to 6 and have a feeling I'll wake up to 1 or 2 rats still sitting in rubs, I feed those to the ones I know will be willing to eat first thing in the morning so there isn't any waste.

I did leave it in there for a while. This was an all night thing. After leaving in there and removing I offered a white one, and if they took it I moved on to the next snake.

I'll have to try leaving in there longer.

I just had no luck with that in my experience. In fact I may try today with my Banana Mojave. He didn't take anything yesterday.
