Found fire ants camping out in bp tubs......

So I live in east central Florida. When I moved here I had some inclination that crawlies would be everywhere. But tonight as I was changing out water bowls, I discovered two fire ants in one tub, and one in another. I looked both snakes over and they don't appear to be injured. Anyone have any insight?? I don't understand why bp's would be a target for fire ants.

Most likely they're looking for food or water. I'm guessing you will have to find and destroy the nest outside to get rid of them.

Ants regularly send out scouts looking for food or water. Get ant bait, find their trail outside, and try to kill the colony.

Thanks guys. I'm just so confused. I'll buy some traps tomorrow.

Welcome to Florida. Just squish the occasional ant. If they become a real nuisance, check out diatomaceous earth.

I get ants yearly. It becomes a ritual hunt through every box bin and bag in my basement then donning my armor and taking up my raid.

i have both of my dogs trained to sniff out the ants and eat them. One year I gave them a milkbone for every any they chased down and disposed of.

This is is the first year that I seem to have won. I also got those stake in ground ones....and put them every two to three feet around my house. And sprayed around the outside of all my windows and doorways top and bottom.

Not sure about fire ants but we got ants every year in our house and that leads to spiders and then centipedes. One year we were killing something every day (old house we rent). I then invested in Ortho home defense and i respray every 4 months. We have not seen seen any insects besides Fruit flies in our home for the last 2 years. That includes the basement. This stuff is pretty strong so you will need to open widows for ventilation or leave the room while it settles because it will make you cough. Other than that its great!
