    RHP question

So I'm looking at getting a RHP to heat my enclosure. From what I can see, my house in summer being in 68 as the lowest but range of 68-73 degrees F, and the higher 70s during winter, that a RHP would be best. i was wondering will the RHP get the inside of there hides that nice warmth like a under tank would?

Yes it would. Just make sure you get the right sized panel based on your enclosure and ambient room temps. Myself and many others use heat panels only.

Ok cool, and yes I will. I contacted pro-products and gave them that info and they told me what size to go with then.

You can also go with Reptile Basics RHPs. They're a bit cheaper in price but are great in quality.

The guy there is very helpful and knows his stuff. I had to play around a bit with my probe placement for my herpstat to get everything dialed in but after that I've been super happy with mine.

You have to get the proper size cage and proper wattage on the RHP. Lower cages seem to work well for BP's. Don't worry about belly heat coming from the bottom. The RHP heats up enough of the cage for a BP to get a hot spot. The warm hide will be in the upper 80's. I myself use a tile under the hide that's larger than the hide. I put it on the arm side under the RHP. The tile collects heat and brings it under the hide. The hide will act like shade to the BP but the ambient temps inside will be upper 80's. The tile warms up nice also. Far end ambient temps will be 78, middle cage around 80, warm side will be 90. Inside the hide will be about 88. I prefer the RHP's to UTH's. You have to let a cage run for a while before you know the true temps... if you get something with a RHP.

Enclosure it is going to go in is a AP T8, its popular I see so figured I'd get that one.

That's a good idea about the tile, I might have to steal that from you. I'm preparing for everything and will be putting my order in no later then next week. Going have the RHP shipped to AP to install it and then the fun will begin!

I'm in the same boat as you EWC88. My T8 got here yesterday (minus the doors, lock and divider). I have decided to go with two 40w RHP's for my T8 since I'll be using it with a divider, and may have a snake on each side of it. If i end up using it for only one snake down the road, I'll just adjust the RHP's according to create a temperature gradient. I have some heat tape I can use if needed, but I may try it with just the RHP's and see how it goes.
