Dying for a boa!!!

Hm. Not really looking for attitude, though, lol. I like docile, friendly snakes. I know that's up to each snake but that's what I'll be looking for when the time comes.

I have 1.2 Tarahumaras. They were nippy as neonates, which is typical for many snakes including ball pythons, but as adults they are all very chill and easily handled.

That's a good point. I don't want anything big. I have to be able to handle it myself as a 5'3" girl that's not overly strong. I don't have anyone to help me, no spouse or anything.

I'm 5'1" with a Hog Island male(dwarf) and a Columbian female(will be full-sized), not to mention a female carpet python who is going to be a big girl the way she is growing. If you get them as babies you can grow with them in your handling experience and it should be fine. I've also handled full-grown boas with no problem - though you can respect their strength! I've never found it overwhelming. Just not getting a retic anytime soon

Your girl is so nice. If that was Rosey my Colombian girl, she would have tried to knock that juice bottle and coffee mug off the table....she loves to knock stuff off tables, I think that is her new thing to do since its winter now and she cant try and climb the gutters on the house to get on roof, which is her summer thing to do lol.

Make or buy a 3 to 5 level 41-qt rack. Once it gets out of QT a boa can live comfortably in it with your ball pythons for at least the first two years of its life while you save up for its adult enclosure.


I go pull out one of my other snakes and fool with it.

So, your idea really spoke to me, lol. I've decided I'm going to get a 3 level 41-quart rack. I was going to get pvc enclosures for my bps but then I got thinking... Why spend the money on pvc when they spend all day hiding?? They use their paper towel as hides and go underneath so I never see them. A rack will suit them fine and that way I can get my boa and he'll be fine in there for a while.

Darn! You just had to give me the perfect idea!!

Ball pythons are great snakes - for character and size. Mine loves being out and trying to get into stuff. I just wish I could get her to stop this fast that she is on and start eating again! My boa is a character - he is quite a bit longer than the boa but younger and tries to get into all of the crazy places too but stays attached to me. Last night I had him on my shoulder while looking at the computer and he was stretched out trying to get into the couch (to go down one of the separations in the cushions - you know, it looks like a little cave to him!!) but still had his tail wrapped around my hand. He's not as brave as I would have thought but he is getting better and more adventurous all the time.
