Need lighting suggestions for a T10 with shelf?
Hi guys! I've just gotten my first AP cage in the mail and would like your suggestions on what type of light fixture to use. I know LED lights stay cooler, so I was hoping to use one of those, but am unsure on whether to go with puck lights or a strip fixture.. I am also not sure if it being "water proof" would be necessary or not.
Also, if anyone here has mounted one inside an AP cage that has a shelf, I would love your input on where to mount it...i.e. back center, middle center, etc.
Any input you have would be greatly appreciated. I am getting a second AP cage in the mail soon as well, so I'm hoping to use the same light fixture on both.

Check out RBI. I was thinking of getting their 32" led fixtures for my T13s and then mounting them behind the front lip of the cage so I don't actually see the lights and they aren't sitting right above the shelf.

Re: Need lighting suggestions for a T10 with shelf?
I had AP install the recessed led strips in my T8s. I prefer the red ones. You can also buy the multi colored strips and install them yourself.

Re: Need lighting suggestions for a T10 with shelf?
We use LED aquarium lights. IIRC the ones we use aren't completely waterproof, but are water-resistant; which is nice for misting and cleaning without worrying about overspray. We mount them as Sauzo suggested up front behind the overhang, so they are out of sight.
If you go with aquarium lights, it simplifies mounting if they can be retrofit into an existing hood or otherwise mounted to something above. Some aquarium lights assume the only way to use them is perching on legs going down to the tank.

Thanks for your input guys!
Spikell75- Do you cut those and then use connectors between the strips (where they are outside the cage)?
El-Ziggy- I didn't even know it was an option to have AP do it, or I would have gone that route. I had just read that the fluorescent lights they offer on their site stink, so I knew I couldn't go with those.

Check out super bright led.com. they have all kinds of cool stuff a lot of it is water resistant or waterproof. I got some red ship lights from there that I'm going to try to make into some night lights.
