Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional.
Or,
A kid says, "Mom, I want to grow up and be a musician!"
The mom says, "You can do one or the other, but not both!"

I'm a musician and so are my parents...

growing old is not mandatory, but the alternative sucks.
