Re: Need help with my new gtp
I agree find a Vet. As soon as you can he needs some help get him fixed up and he will be a show stopper, please keep us informed and get right on the mites wash all your clothes that he was near I would think with a heavy Parasite load he could be anemic you should also have him checkef for Internal Parasite s also. It makes me sad when a purchase is sick.

First off, I'm so jealous!! I want a high blue Manokwari but I need to get some other stuff done before I can drop down the cash needed for a CBB. Ok with that out of the way, is the snake a CBB or CB? Those look like abscesses to me. Also if she has mites, I would be torqued especially if you got this directly from the breeder and not at a show as this means his collection has mites as a whole. She looks underfed too. They should have that kind of triangle body but with the spine poking up like that, not a good thing. Did you find out his feeding schedule? When she ate, what she ate etc etc? Unfortunately most if not all breeders will not cover vet bills. It's either ship the animal back to them for credit or a replacement animal or pay the vet out of your pocket. And without knowing anything, the vet bill can be quit expensive.
Are the lumps hard or solid feeling? Like I mentioned, looks like abscesses but again, going off a picture alone is pretty hard. And I would expect the breeder to try to help as from what I've seen pricewise for Manokwari and Cyclops, you are looking at dropping almost 1k for the animal, shipping and insurance, at least the CBB ones I've been checking out hehe. Anyways, good luck and keep us informed. And again.....im sooo jealous of you

Re: Need help with my new gtp
If the Breeders collection has mites I would like to know so I an stay away from that breeder I don't think he/she is being honest with you he most likely new about the absences why does he/she need proof from your pictures . My opinion is something is a little fishy here.....

Re: Need help with my new gtp
Thanks for the replies. I purchased this snake at the Hamburg show haven't heard back from the vendor i got her from since I spoke with him about the mites and lumps. I asked if she was captive born and the lady told me yes. When I discovered the mites I called and talked to the owner and she is in fact captive born, only at a farm in Indonesia so yes she is an import. First problem. I also spoke with Brandon Osborne who I have found to be very helpful. He had dealt with GTPS since 1995, I contacted him as I thought he could be of help and he has done nothing but answer my questions even had me call him so we can discuss some things. Even though I didn't buy her from him Brandon has been awesome and I can't thank him enough. He believes the lumps are actually subcutaneous tapeworms which won't affect her other than visually to me I can have them removed but that isn't as urgent right now as everything else. He also gave me recommendations on getting rid of the mites. My game plan is first treat her for the mites and get her feeding. They said she was pounding fuzzie mice but Yes she does seem on the thin side to me. After the mites are gone and she is feeding I plan on taking her to the vet for a fecal float test and also blood test to see what other kind of parasites she has going on inside her. Being an import I'm sure she has a whole slew of things hiding. I think she is absolutely gorgeous that's why I bought her. Now it's up to me to get her healthy and give her the life a beautiful creature like her deserves!

Good to hear and you live and learn. I learned from all the reading and talking to people in GTP community that yes being labeled as CB technically does mean captive born but it also most likely means gotten from a wc gravid female and then farm hatched. You want a CBB which means captive bred and born. You generally pay more but you know the stock it came from as well as you got a breeder to stand behind you and most of the times you don't start from an uphill battle. Although I was informed Bushmaster is a good outfit to buy from if you are going CB. Anyways good to hear its not something life threatening and again...i'm jealous lol. Can't wait until I can snag a GTP
