Can bad sheds happen if everything is perfect?
I have 7 balls and haven't had a bad shed since I got them. Over a year now. Well now I have a bad shed. One eye cap and top of head back about 6''. Does this occasionally happen even in ideal conditions? Humidity and temps perfect in rack and two others shed this week perfectly.

If everything is perfect the missed skin should come off without issue.

Yes. I have a pastel girl that sheds in pieces no matter what I do.

Even with proper husbandry bad sheds can happen, it's up to the snake.
Keeping in mind how uncomfortable and miserable looking they appear, the snake may rush the timetable.
Just two months ago my youngJungle Carpet spent a half day trying to start her shed. She kept rubbing and dragging her face and head on everything in the tank. No luck.
Then three days later she shed.
Experience may play into it with some snakes too, I don't know. Some younger ones my need to "learn" how to time the shed in spite shedding being an innate function.

The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

Re: Can bad sheds happen if everything is perfect?
That's good to know. I thrilled checked everything and it was all spot on. I wonder if it's the spider gene a bit in her. She is a spider mojave and when she is stressed does wobble. If I just put her on the flood she will move around a periscope and no wobble seen. I wonder if she wobbles during her shed? Soaked her today and got most of it off but she was as pissed as I have ever seen her and I checked on her about four hours later and she instantly balled up which she never does. I hope she calms down.
