    Lights in my rack

I saw rope lighting was an option on Boaphile racks. A quick search of the interwebs found me a 30" (exactly the length I needed) indoor/outdoor white LED rope at Affordable Quality Lighting for $20 +shipping. After it arrived, I coiled it up in a Tupperware container and let it run for 6+ hours then temped it. I got 82 on the LEDs, and 88 on the resistors. The in and outside of the Tupperware temped the same as the ambient in my snake room (where it was plugged in). Pulled the back off the rack, cut a small notch to match the diameter of the rope in each shelf, slipped rope light into place, reinstalled back, and plugged into a timer on a 12 hour cycle. Took all of 30 min from start to cleaned up.

    Re: Lights in my rack

Thanks! I know ambient lighting is typically fine, but my rack is in a dark walk-in closet. We are bad about not leaving the light on during the day, and especially my wife is bad about turning it off behind me. This makes it easy! Plus I can see what everyone is doing now without having to slide the tubs out and disturbing them.
