Yes - today they still range into VT and NH. They used to range up into Quebec, even. I've never seen one, though.
For that matter, northern copperheads even supposedly range up into MA, although I gather they are fairly rare.
I'm excited about the rattlesnake island thing. I go cycling in the area of the Quabbin from time to time, and I love the idea that I might see one even though I probably never will unless it's roadkill, since I mostly ride road and don't hike that much.
