    Naming

Just curious to those of you who name your snakes, do you have a rhyme or reason when it comes to naming. For example over here all our snakes are named after Harry Potter characters. Initially my girl wasnt too keen on switching from breeding geckos to ball pythons. However she is a huge Harry Potter nerd so it won her over lol. Now she actually likes most of the snakes except our butter fire that might actually be a direct descendant from satan.

My son named my snake... the day I brought her home, before she was even out of the deli cup, he said, "we should name her Lexi".... so that's what she got. If/when I ever get more, I will likely go with names of NCIS characters.

    Re: Naming

I named my male super pastel after one of my favorite movie characters Walter Sobchak from the Big Lebowski. My new female I'm leaning towards Carol as my daughter named her mojo baby girl Rosetta, both those names from our favorite show The Walking Dead

    Re: Naming

There was really no rhyme nor reason when I first started to get back into the hobby. Tucker was the first. The girls named him after a character in Red vs. Blue. Butters (Siagi) was named after the South Park Character and I was tying flies when I named Sally. I was doing a batch of Yellow Sallys. Went with the Yellow Belly gene. The rest have been named after Red vs Blue and RWBY characters by the kids.

I got Donuts already named, so I'm thinking as I expand my collection I may do a breakfast food theme. Kind of hoping to get a dark male to pair her up with someday just so I can name him Coffee, that would be so cute!

    Re: Naming

I name my snakes after video games that I enjoy playing. My cornsnake is named So.li.s which stands for 'Solid Liquid Solidus from metal gear. It is also the name of a company in the metal gear rising.

My ball python is named Alduin Jörmungandr. His first name is from Skyrim while his second name is from my sister.

Pretty sure if I get another snake, he/she will be names after a character off of Dragon Age or something. Maybe Last of Us. Or Assassin's Creed.

    Re: Naming

There was no real rhyme to me naming the ones that are named so far. Chaos was off a whim..My girlfriend (now fiance) flipped because she wasn't expecting me to get him lol. I was talking to my mom about it that night and she said that the snake was causing chaos so hence his name. My son named all the others besides Ash. My younger sister saw him and said he needed lotion (axanthic gene) so his name became Ash lol.

    Re: Naming

I wanted to name mine after a character in my favorite novel series (Wheel Of Time), but most of the main characters don't have good snake names, so I went with one of the weird monster types from the book. Mashadar is an evil creeping fog that "hunts the night" and "curls around" it's victims to kill them. Very constrictor like. I admit it would have fit a silver or white snake better, but whatever...he's called Snoot most of the time anyway

I probably won't be getting another, but I have all my goldfish named after oceanography or geology terms...yes, I'm a science nerd and proud of it

I regularly laugh at myself for naming creatures who not only lack external ears, but also wouldn't come when you call them if they did have a pair.

Having said that, I stick with Greek and Roman god names, with the occasional Egyptian deity thrown in for good measure.

This is what I use, plus the Norse gods.
