First Thread - Black Pastel Pinstripe with Pics
Hi Everyone,
Long time lurker, first post. I have two boop snooters; a Yellowbelly male named Sniper and a Black Pastel Pinstripe female named Silvia. I have read many of the threads on here, and find this forum to be very useful and friendly. It was just a matter of time before I posted something I suppose. I do have a question, if anyone can assist. Silvia was sold to me as a Black Pastel Pinstripe. Her picture is below. Looking through images here and all over he internet, she sure doesnt look like other Black Pastel Pinstripes that I have seen. Can anyone offer some guidance? I bought her from a pretty well known exotic animal shop in the Detroit, MI area. They did not breed her, but received her from a local breeder that supplies some of their snakes. I trust this store, but maybe there's a mistake? She doesnt look like a normal Pinstripe either. She's very pretty whatever morph she is, and unique as I can't find anything that looks close to her. Thanks!

Hi and welcome!
Every ball python will differ even within similar genetics. Sometimes it's very difficult to determine visually what genetics a certain animal has while other times it's obvious. From the picture you provided my opinion would be a pinstripe, no black pastel.

This was my black pastel pinstripe (came from a super black pastel to a pinstripe, having been bred from a super he must have black pastel in him) that doesn't look like your typical black pastel pinstripe either.

Thanks!
I should add that her face has no black in it. It's a very sort of washed out brown and tan. The black stripes on her sides shown above are only in that area shown in the picture. The other side of her has little to no black stripes other than an almost constant double band down her back.

Thanks, Piedlover. Silvia looks similar to yours, but with less black markings on her side, and an almost reddish hue to her. No yellow anywhere. I suppose she may change some as she gets older. The shop said that her brothers and sisters were supers, but couldnt verify that 100% with her.
I dont know. She's super pretty and unique, and Im happy I have her, so i guess that's what counts.

I think the brown eye stripes rather than black ones is another sign that there is black pastel in there. Hard to see from the cell phone pic I put on here of my boy, but he had brown eye stripes not black as well. I'd say you've got a black pastel pin with low black pastel expression, it happens!
And yes, being happy with her is the most important part!
