    Spider, take 2

Forgive my ignorance here. I used the search function but feel as though it does not work as well in Tapatalk as it does in a web browser.

I'm curious as to whether or not you think there may be other wild spider gene balls out there in the motherland that do not suffer the neurological disorders that we see in the captive bred ones here.

I know that some genes may have only been found once and then bred back to produce more. Wondering if we just picked the wrong spider to start with and he passed his disorder onto all the others, or if it is just inherent in all BP's that contain this particular mutation.

Without trying to go deep into a bunch of genetic things that I am only beginning to understand I think that is likely that the pattern and the defect are caused by the same gene and if another one was found it would be the same. I also think the possibility of another one being found is remote at best. I think all the stars had to be in perfect alignment for that first one to survive and be found. I would however absolutely love to be wrong on all counts.

One was found and kept by a uk breeder but I'm not sure what happened to the project sadly.

It does seem plausible JoDan. Would be cool if that weren't the case though and we got another.

That's awesome Dr Del, guess it didn't survive or turned out the same as take 1. Would be cool to know for sure what happened. Maybe I'll come across something about it one day.
