I'm really interested in python hybrids because it seems nobody wants to talk about them! I don't know about anyone else but to me, the prospect of an entirely new kind of animal is exciting from a learning standpoint. I think most of us loved learning about new animals when we were kids, and when we got into herps and all of a sudden everything was so much more complex than with mammals.
I see the issues as far as breeding hybrids to other snakes and "polluting the gene pool", but I would be thrilled to learn more about the hybrids themselves and would not even bother breeding them if I had them. I think it should be a one and done kind of deal.
But of course, I'm not everyone, and people would definitely acquire them to breed them, for whatever reasons /:
To me, breeding out a hybrid defeats the entire purpose of creating them in the first place! Or at least the purpose I would have in mind: Observing, caring for, and learning about the hybrid animal itself. There's such a dearth of data (and pictures) of python hybrids, at least that I have been able to find. That makes me want to know about them even more.
Also, just throwing this out there... Ball Python x Blood Python = Royal Blood Python![]()
