Monty goes from mice to Rats - No Issue!

So i changed Monty from adult mice to Weaned Rats tonight. No issues, he hit it like a freight train. I need to do another update for you all on his progress. I have actually not handled him for a little over a month now, we moved house, one of my dogs died, I got the Flu then ruptured a disc in my back

So when I get time I will get him out again and do an update.

Congrats on the switch! Just got my first and planning to feed him mice a few more times and thdb make the switch, hope it goes as well. He just had his first feeding though and the way he hit that mouse I assume he would have hit anything. Seems like he didn't even have time to smell...just registered the heat and size and hit it.

Hope it goes well. I must admit, I have been lucky with little Monty, well not so little now Will take some shots this week hopefully. He is currently sitting on his favorite little branch (as he always does) which takes him close to the radiant heat panel. He will sit there for a few hours. I have the lights on a timer now. Comes on at 6:15 in the morning and goes off at 5:15 at night. This allows me to check him out in the morning and then by the time I get home he is roaming around his cage as its dark.

Awesome. Watching them roam is one of the best parts. I need to get my lights on a timer. Just had them a few days and been switching it in/off myself. How old is monty and what is his weight?

Wow Shaggy, sorry about the setbacks. Usually they (setbacks) get balanced out by positives. So, hang in there and get well. You are in store for some great advancements in your future. Congrats on switching the reptile up and over to rats. Lol. Ever since my albino female ball laid her first clutch back in August 2015 she has been tearing up rats. She used to be kind of picky but now just has become a different animal.

I am not sure exactly how old Monty is. I got him from a Petsmart, Between me and the guy at the store I think he must be coming up to or just over a year. I have no idea of his weight. Not weighed for about 2 months he was 247grams back then.
