Sounds like you have a glass cage with screen top ???? Did you ever consider spending about four hundred bucks on a setup that will make everything much, much, much easier for you and your BP? If that's an option for you....I could share my cage setup with you. In my opinion, it's hard to make a glass cage with screen top work easily but it can be done. If you want something easy, you may consider looking into a PVC cage with a controlled radiant heat panel. I only want to make you aware that you could just spend big once and sit back more and enjoy your BP rather than fooling with stuff all the time. I got a combination package from PVC cages for my BP. I got a 36x12x24 cage, LED light, 40 watt RHP, Vivarium thermostat. Then I got 2 hides, water bowl, disinfectant from Reptile Basics. I use paper town on the floor. Got an AcuRite combination thermometer/hygrometer from Wall Mart. I set the cage up on those plastic shelves you get from Home Depot. The shelves are 36x24 so it fits right up on there.

Another way you could go is to just use a tub setup or small rack for you BP....you will be able to control heat hand humidity much easier.
