I have two T8s with RHP panels on either side (originally both were divided). I have it hooked up to a Herpstat 4 and each probe dangles down and is glued in place to hang about an inch or so off of the floor. I tinkered with it until I was getting good surface temp ranges. It takes a bit to figure out the right setting so just mess with it and give it time (without a snake in there) to get the temps dialed in.
