No, low temp hot glue like what you would find at a hobby store has a melting point of 120F, industrial has an even higher melting point. I have used hot glue to tack down probes with no issues. You don't put glue directly on the probe, but you put it at the base where the wire attaches the probe. Then you just have to make sure there is no way for the animal to get tangled in the wire. I have glued the entire run of wire before, and I have also used the plastic wire routers that you find at hardware stores, instead of using the adhesive tape on it I glued those down as well.
