    Super Fire Magic Trick

This holdback from last year has some tricks up his sleeve.
After his very first shed. Solid white with pale orange patches. Pretty standard for a super fire.

After a few sheds.. "What the heck?"

After a few more sheds.. "Fascinating." Side note: the grey patches weren't blurry, my camera skills just suck.

After his most recent shed.. "Psych! Gotcha!" lol The grey patches vanished.

Well, that's unusual. Is there any possibility it could be ink from the newsprint transferring to his skin? I remember when I used to use printed newspaper my snow corns would get kind of a grayish cast to them but it wasn't in patches like that.

Nope, it lasted for quite a few sheds, and got a bit darker. He is a possible granite though. I have seen another pic of a super fire with a grey patch on its head. So I know it happens with super fires. Just don't hear about it often.

And if they just vanished that's a sign of newspaper ink staining to me

whatever it is, it looks cool to me. as long as the snake is healthy, it's a nice little surprise.

One thing about the "fair" morphs like albino and leucistic is they tend to show the slightest bit of damage with glaring clarity - something that doesn't even show up on a normal is suddenly painfully obvious. Simply rubbing a bit too vigorously, especially during a shed where scales are more vulnerable to damage, can cause that kind of discoloring until they heal up after a couple more cycles. I've seen it on some of my supers but not in such large patches. Just throwing it out there as a possibility.
