So I've followed all the advice I've gotten (except I still haven't gotten thermostats for the UTH and for the ceramic bulb if I choose to use that) and I can't get the readings to stay. I have a 40 gallon tank (which I know isn't recommended, but I wanted it because she's just a pet and I'm probably never breeding) with a hide on each side that she switches between. I refill the bowl with lukewarm water daily. I've started putting damp moss into the hides instead of paper towels so I'm not sure how the humidity is in them. I have a 125 watt black night view bulb in right now and a room heater set to 70 (which keeps the warm side 86°-92° and the cool side 75°-84° depending on the house temp). The warm temp only gets about 86° after I spray because the moisture cools it. I have 3/4 of the lid covered in foil. I'm using a sphagnum and fir substrate. I'm reading with an AccuRite thermo/hygrometer. Every time I spray, the reader goes to about 65% (sometimes higher if I spray it directly on accident) however it still gets down to about 35% within 20-30 minutes. It's at 43% right now and I just sprayed 10 minutes ago. The foil is doing nothing to help.
