Question Temps and infrared wattage help, 20 gallon tank

I need to know what wattage I should have to heat my whole tank to the temps they need to be. I plan on buying 2 different lamps/bulbs for the cool and hot sides of the tank. My house is 68°F during the day and around 64°F at night. That is why im thinking I will need a lamp for the cool side of the tank. My question is, what wattage is recommend for both temps of the tank? I will be using infrared bulbs in a 20 gallon tank, Thank you!

I think one heat bulb should be good enough to create a hot spot and raise your ambient temps in a 20g tank. I'd probably go with a 75 watt bulb on a dimmer.

I have 30 gall tank and had to get 100 watt flood blue light to get temps up to 80. Mine is also almost turned up full blast stays around 79-83 in temp . Cover also is block off except around the light

I would scrap the idea of heat lamps. Get yourself two 60 or 100w CHE bulbs on fixtures with dimmer switches, like these:

    http://www.amazon.com/Flukers-Repta-...mp+with+dimmer

The snakes don't need the extra light, and with the CHE, you can leave them on through the night without losing heat or keeping the cage bright.

I would also recommend using a UTH regulated with a thermostat on the warm side to provide some belly heat as well.
