    Instead of a heat lamp, I would recommend a CHE (Ceramic Heat Emitter) bulb. You can get a Flukers light fixture with a dimmer already on it and I'd recommend a 100w CHE bulb.     I'm going to disagree with this one LTG. I think an RHP is the ideal heat source but if it's not an option I like the red heat bulbs on a dimmer over CHE's. I found it much easier to control the temps with the bulb vs. the CHE and the red bulb is great for night viewing. The light doesn't bother my snakes at all and I leave mine on 24/7.
