Pre-lay shed?

We had a successful lock about 3 weeks ago, and now the female is going into shed. From the research that I have done it seems that the pre-lay shed is around 21 days after ovulation. I am wondering if this could actually be pre-lay or if we are just over excited.

I mean, it's possible that she bred and ovulated right away if she had follicles developed before breeding, but it usually doesn't happen all that quickly. The quickest Ovy I've seen was with a virgin that ovulated 5 weeks after her first breeding.
If you were keeping an eye on her 3 weeks ago, you would have seen the ovulation.

What was the pairing? Was that the pair's first lock? Did you actually witness an ovulation? How often do you win the lottery? All very important questions, of course.

If that was the only pairing and lock than no you do not go from lock to ovy to pre-lay in 3 weeks.

If you have paid attention to your female you should observed the following

Feeding frenzy

Cooling

Building

Glowing

Ovy

Heat seaking

Pre-lay

Usually it takes multiple locks prior to the building phase and ovulatory phase. Overall, to ensure fertilization you will need continued locks up to the ovulation. Mostly after the ovy you should be in a good position to exclude any other pairing for that particular female. That's if you are able to see the ovy. If not , just continue to pair up the male and female.
