cant maintain humidity

i have a 20 gallon glass tank with screen lid i have the heat lamp on the hot side with the uth and a wooden hide over the uth temp maintains at 90f water bowl is next to the warm side hide. on the cold side i have just a hide cold side maintains at 75f. in the middle i have a climbing branch. 3/4 of the screen is covered with tin foil i mist and reach 70% humidity and 2 hours later im back at 20% please help

Mist w spray bottle or purchase a reptile fogger or a cool mist humidifier. Set it up on a timer one wld use for fish tanks so u can set it to come on several times during the day. I use cool mist humidifiers and have been for years to provide xtra humidity to some of my reptiles. I use them also because honestly, they last longer than reptile foggers. Your cold side is too cold, it should be around 79-81 degrees.

Also, what substrate are you using?

Can change your substrate - also can add some moss, if you mist the moss it increases humidity... Try keeping a towel over the other half of the mesh lid also.

You can also try putting your Water bowl under the heat lamp.

When I had humidity issues, I put a bowl with sphagnum moss in it and I would put about 1/2" or so of water in it daily. It helped a good bit.

I have a similar issue. What I have added is just humid hides. They spend a large period of the time in their hides so makes sure it stays moist there. I prefer moss for this purpose but paper towel will work. I have also changed to coconut fiber for substrate. It looks nice and holds water pretty well. I only have one screen setup for my large normal so this is the only one i have to deal with. It has been working for the past three years though so i would say its a success.

Yeah, as suggested, buy a brick of sphagnum moss and put it in something like a small ceramic bowl, place it in the enclosure and keep spraying it. It goes really well. Also, as suggested, shift your water bowl closer to the heat source, or get a larger water bowl.

Yup this is what i use also and it works great for me. I only keep a piece of foil on 3/4 of the tank and it holds fine if you add a nice chunk of moss. That is with my in house humidity being around 20% (which sucks lol). I also make sure there is moss under the hide too to keep that pretty much consistently 50-60%.
