They come in different sizes and out puts.
I use both because my tanks are glass, and the house is kept very cold.
I would avoid a UTH in a wooden viv just because the typical solutions are to put it up on a vertical wall (not very effective), or adhere it to the floor, and seal something over it (sounds like a pain).
