Hide Safty
I just ordered a copy of my ball's favorite hide, since he decided that the free ones that I got were not good enough . It's an exo terra large rock hide (http://www.exo-terra.com/en/products/reptile_cave.php). When I pulled it out of the box, it's much brighter than the one he has. I washed it for good measure, but as I was drying it, I noticed that some of the color was rubbing off onto the towel. Is this ok? I have to rub pretty hard to get it off, but the hide does have a little of that new stain / paint smell. I just want to make sure this is all fine before I put it in his cage.

I use those hides and really like them but haven't had any issues like that. I think if you washed them good they would be fine. The problem I've had with some of mine was on the inside I found some very sharp points and edges from the molding process and I took a dremel tool to them and smoothed them down so there were no sharp places on the inside. My snake loves em!!!

I had to do that with the one he has, but it was also a hand-me-down, so I think the color may have just faded over time. But that is his favorite hide to be sure.

I use those, the mediums, for both of my BP's, and I have two of the smalls that they stopped fitting into and still tried to use. I think they're great. My snakes love them, and my male BP actually moves his around his tub to where he wants to be - sometimes it's half on the heat, then I'll see him slithering around inside and it slides over all the way on the heat again. I'm not entirely sure that it's intentional... but it certainly looks like it is!

Re: Hide Safty
When you got yours, were they kind of shiny? I'm just trying to figure out if they always look like they have fresh stain on them, I've never seen one brand new. Most of the hides I've seen in the pet stores are just dull or stone.
